'99 Durango 5.2 4WD Oil Pan Gasket question

Just got me a used fairly new semi truck fuel tank came off a Mack Brand truck. On the tank there is a thick reinforcement piece that most fuel tanks have that goes around the tank fill. This one is no different it has a fuel cap, sending unit for tank gauge, and what is probably a tank vent that has 1/4in plastic line that has been cut.

On the reinforcement piece it has the usual tank info, fuel cap. usable fuel cap, side mount info. Then there is some info that I haven't seen on ANY ALUMINUM TANK for trucks. It says, This Fuel Tank is Manufactured for use with ULTRA LOW SULFUR DIESEL FUEL ONLY. Its like all the info on tanks, its been etched in the reinforcement part of the tank.

I have looked inside the tank after pulling out some kind of screen that looks like it was meant to prevent fuel theft. The inside looks no different than any other fuel tank that I have seen, no plastic liner or something that looks to be different. I want to use this as a 100% BIO Diesel fuel tank for my Aux Genset for the shop. Is there some kind of NEW aluminum that's strictly for the ULSD and won't be compatible with the other fuels?

Big, After ULSD was mandated they started putting that on all new tanks. It is still just plain old aluminum and will is safe for any petroleum product regardless of it's sulfur content.

Thanks ive seen the tags on them, but they just said to use ULSD ONLY but being that this one was etched into the aluminum it kind of made me think some.

Perfect Tanks!!

Mack Tank is "Good to Go!!"

It's just to ward off the folks that are tempted to put better quality fuel in their tanks :-laf

FYI, The only two industries that can "legally" get anything else besides ULSD are railroad and mining... #@$%!#@$%! They have to use what the tanker gives them when they need it and I'd bet they have used both types due to whatever was available at the time.

Even the oil/gas industry has had to bite the bullet and use ULSD when fuel is needed...

Notice the filter bowls on the water separator filters have green fuel in them  Road tax paid for hundreds of gallons of fuel when they haven't moved a single inch for the last week!! #@$%!#@$%!

And to those of you that are wondering... 5 of the 7 filters are secondary and the white ones are primary/water separators.

I'm sure a CAT guru will chime in and correct me on this...

Fuel tank ain't no where near that big,:-laf I used to have one of those white filters on my truck Racors are pretty good filters and Water separators back in the day. Course back then the motors would burn most anything that would.

Not anymore starting in January 2014, all fuel sold in the US must be ULSD. See attached site.

I worked at Cat when we were doing the emission work up from Tier I thru Tier IV; used this chart all the time for planning purposes.
