Attached to the Cyber Security Act of 2012, S. 3414
Senator Udalls response to My objection to this legislation based on hitch hiker amendments provided by Senator Lautenberg.
Part of Senator Udalls reply;
My response to the Senators reply;
Honorable Senator Udall,
MY THOUGHTS ARE ON THAT HORRIFIC ATTACK IN AURORA!
THAT IS WHY I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO BUDGE ONE INCH ON THE ORIGINAL INTENT AS WELL AS PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE BILL OF RIGHTS!
We do not live in a perfect society!
Since when do the majority of Honest Citizens have to give up their rights because of the actions of the criminally demented few?
Rules at that theater were in place that prevented honest citizens from carrying weapons to be used in a law abiding manner for self defense, therefore enabling the perpetrator!
Furthermore, the door alarms were not working! Not to mention the College Psychologist profiling failure to follow through by notifying authorities!!
Yes SIR! The Tragedy of the Aurora shootings are horrors that should never have happened. With the correct application of existing firearms laws and removal of enabling restrictions on concealed carry from premises similar to this theater, this individual could have been minimized or possibly stopped dead in his tracks! Irregardless of his "Magazine capacity"! And Senator Lautenberg wants to ban weapon "Magazines???? Give me a break!
Disgracefully opportunistic, the Democrats regard any tragedy as opportunity for exploitation! Furthermore, for this administration, that tragedy adds distance to the focus on the abomination of "Fast and Furious", UN Small Arms Treaties and a host of other back door attempts against the concept of an armed Citizen exercising their inalienable right to self defense!
Heart Felt Sympathy and Empathy are honorable. An objective view of the big picture is indispensable!!!
Respectfully,
Senator Udalls response to My objection to this legislation based on hitch hiker amendments provided by Senator Lautenberg.
Part of Senator Udalls reply;
As you know, Senator Frank Lautenberg introduced an amendment to the Cybersecurity Act of 2012. This amendment would make it unlawful for a person to sell, transfer or possess a large-capacity ammunition magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition. I am committed to protecting the Second Amendment rights of citizens to own firearms for personal protection, hunting, collecting or for other legal purposes. That said, I am also reminded of the tragedies at the Aurora movie theater; Columbine High School; Virginia Tech and in Tucson, AZ. These horrific events are national tragedies that should concern us all as we continue to debate gun control policy.
Although I support the Cybersecurity Act of 2012, on August 2, 2012, the U. S. Senate failed to gather the 60 votes necessary to move to a final up-or-down vote.
