In recent weeks my truck has developed what seems to be a sensitive throttle while cruising on the highway. At highway speed and steady throttle ( foot position) I can feel the truck almost surging. When I turn on the cruise control it goes away. With in the last year I've replaced the APPS sensor due to a check engine light. There are no codes stored at this time. Around town the truck is fine. Truck still has plenty of power, and I just serviced it with all new filters ( was doing it before the service). I just notice it on the highway at a steady speed. Anyone else experience this? If so what was your cure?

I was gonna try removing the smarty to see if the problem goes away. If not I was gonna try to do a voltage sweep of the APPS and graph it to see if there is a dead spot in the sensor.

any info is much appreciated. Thanks

Mike

Mike,

Another way to verify (or eliminate) the APPS as the root of the problem would be to connect something like a ScanGauge or a Chrysler DRBIII Scan Tool that displays APPS output real-time. If the throttle position is fluctuating while you're holding your foot steady, well then that would highly support the APPS as being at fault.

Best regards,

John L.

Thanks John for the reply.

I have access to both a DRBIII and the Cummins insite program. I believe Cummins insite will graph Thottle position voltage realtime/ I will give it a try.

Thanks, Mike
