I want to run a seperate circiut to the trailer running light pin in the 7way with it's own relay to take the load off the headlight switch in my 93. somewhere I thought someone mentioned there was a stock harness/plug in, that could be used, instead of cutting into the wiring???

suggestions?

thanks

I think the harness you are refering to was only available 94 and up and the early versions are no longer available. I modified(slightly) an 01 version to use on my 94.

Ya, I did that on my 92. If I remember right I did cut into the trailer light cirut back at the bumper and ran a #12 wire up under the hood, put a in-line fuse then under the dash to a toggle switch, then back to the bumper. It worked fine

Yes there is a harness you can buy that interrupts the plug at each taillight. You simply unplug the tail light and plug in the new harness between the two connections and your done. It's made with the same watertight quality connectors your truck uses. Worked great on my 93 for 10+ years. I got mine at a generic auto part store (B&B) but U-Haul places carry them too.

By the way, your 93 used an updated headlight switch that was not prone to overheating like earlier models.

Check out a Reese Heavy Duty Ciricut Protector, takes off the entire load for turn signals, running lights etc, power come right from battery, not off the OEM harness, cost around $50, but well worth it !

You should see my rig, I run tandem, 29' 5th wheel and a 16' boat with enough lights to make a Christmas tree jealousor give you a sun tan if you get too close ;) . The nice thing about the Reese unit is that the truck now only supplies a signal to power all the lights on the trailer or trailers that you are towing. I had to rebuild the dash wiring on my 1st gen because an overload of running lights. For $50 I don't have to worry about melting the wiring in my 2001.
