Competition where to find pulling rules for Palmdale?

Competition Grammer

OK, here is the deal. To my knowledge, this is the largest purse ever seen at a Diesel Truck Pull in California. Payouts for the Sled Pull at the High Desert Diesel Roundup are as follows -

7500lb Extreme

1st - $500

2nd - $300

3rd - $200

Plus trophies for all 3

9000lb Extreme

1st - $500

2nd - $300

3rd - $200

Plus trophies for all 3

7500lb Street Modified

Tropies for 1 - 3

Purse subject to entries

8500lb street modified

Tropies for 1 - 3

Purse subject to entries

If there are enough entries, there will be a purse for the street classes as well. Purse for Extreme class could also increase. This will be determined on the day of the event.

Be there. . .

I've laid the early ground work, but whether it registered still needs to be determined, but I'm pushing--going to be a long weekend--need to go to J&H's event on Friday and then haul my buns down south sometime Sat if I get the thumbs up--chris

Chris,

Tell the CFO that this is a money making prospect :-laf Maybe that will get you the clearence Oo. You are the only "Big Guy" still on the fence man, you have got to make it. You guys will have one heck of a mod class if you do. Anyone heard anything one way or another about the Silvas?

What do you think Chris?

Also, some of you guys with trucks that can make the 7500 weight, may want to think about this. A number of the hot trucks can't make that weight, so that opens the door for some others in the 7500 Extreme class. Remember, $500 to 1st, $300 to 2nd, $200 to 3rd for both the 7500 and 9000 Extreme. Anyone talk to James Silva? He could be in the running for all the money, I know he can make 7500. Lets get em' hooked up guys.

Craig

still not sure--work is makin it tuff--plus I haven't even fixed the front locker--but I did put the bug in the chief's ear again--she didn't say much, but as time gets closer and as I'm going to Idaho hunting at the beginning of Oct, things can change, but mostly it will be work and if I can get the locker working and I don't break in the meantime--chris

Alright guys, late development here. Who would be interested in a dyno run on Sat. the 18th the day before the event. We have one lined up but I need a head count on who would be interested so we can work out pricing. Again, this would be for Saturday Sept. 18 the day before the actual event. The shop with the dyno is about 15 minutes from Willow Springs so its easy to get to. All I know about the dyno is that it is a superflow and apparently it can take plenty of power. If we can get 10 or more guys, I think the price is $50 for the first hooks and then $10 for each one there after. We will work out pricing for sure after we get a head count. Lets have it guys. Let me know quick.

Craig

OK, here is the deal for dynoing on Saturday. the shop is called R & E Racing - Ed is the contact there.

He said he figures we can get up to 20 trucks on the dyno if things move along good. We can start as early as 8am. the cost is $50 for the first run and $10 for each run after per truck - hope that makes sense. He is firm on his pricing as this is already well discounted from his normal rates. He will have 2 guys there setting things up and helping out. Sounds very proffessional. I figure we can have whoever wants to meet at Willow Springs and caravan over from there, otherwise, they can meet at the Holiday Inn Express in Lancaster and go over from there. What time does everybody want to meet - 8am? The meeting places are just to organize everybody ahead of time. For more information on the locatoin, you can go to www.re-racing.com

The address for those that want to show up later is

44533 North Sierra Highway

Lancaster, CA 93534

or you can call them @661 948 7622.

For Organizational questions, please call me @

661 212 8292.

For location call the shop.

We should start as early as possible because the shop is reserving the time for us, but its up to you guys what time you want to meet. How does this sound?

Craig

wow... even if I wanted to go there is no way I could pull! I can't pull in street class due to my turbo and can't pull in extreme because I don't have half the safety stuff required! Guess I'd better start working on that stuff if I want to start pulling.

Josh

Hey Josh,

Many of the safety items listed for the Extreme class are things they are slowy incorporating in. Not everyone has all these items - but that is the direction it is going.

You are close for the street class - I have the same turbo as you with an EX3 housing - 3" outlet. I hope some of you stronger Dodge guys make it out to give me a hand fighting off these pesky D max's. Their are a bundle of them boys showing up. Its going to be a tough class.

Craig

Josh, Craig is correct, we are heading in that direction the most important stuff is the personal saftey items which most of have already like the fire suit, helmet, and Halon Fire Exstinguisher, I have the bell housing blanket as well but only two of the drive shaft saftey loops.

My rig will be eating the D-max's for lunch on Sunday, that is if I don't break. (knock on wood) Oo. :)

There's no way I could make it anyway (Reno Air Races this weekend... much more important than sled pulling :p ), but I was just pointing out that a fairly mild truck like mine couldn't run in the street class, where it might not dominate, but I'd be near the front of the pack due to my HP level. If I was forced to run in the extreme class, not only would my butt be handed to me on a platter, but if all the requirements were strictly enforced (strictly being the key word) I couldn't pull their either.

The only thing that would prevent a truck like mine from running in the street class is my turbo. As you stated, I have the same turbo as you, but with a 4" outlet. By your rules that makes me "extreme", which I don't consider my pickup to be (just say no to drugs! ;) ), and which I don't think most people would think either.

I'm just trying to get my ducks-in-a-row so when I do start pulling I don't have problems like that where, due to one small thing, I can't pull in the class I'd be competitive in. I think that the street class should have an "any single charger" rule, but it's not my decision to make.

Can we get some vids of this weekend? Since I didn't get any from Tulelake, I need something to tide me over... :D

Josh

I hear you Josh. I didn't make these rules up. They were put together by the sled operator and a group of pullers. They are probably some of the most commonly used rules on the west coast for Diesel Pickups. The top pulling trucks on this side of the country had a hand in making them. As for allowing any single charger in the "street" class, now that could get more complicated than you think. There are pulling trucks out there with singles that make our little B1's look like childs play. You and I wouldn't want any part of those trucks if they were allowed in the street class. Unfortunately, it isn't quite as simple as limiting it to a single charger.

When I orderd my turbo, I ordered it the way I did just so that I could meet certain rules. Knowing that these rules are used at a good bit of the pulls in California, that made my decision for me. Something for people to think about before ordering turbos, look closely at any rules you want to meet. I didn't go with the 4" outlet just so that I wouldn't get stuck with the big boys, its no coincidence. I know these rules aren't perfect, none are, but they are the ones I chose to base my decisions on.
