Serp Belt tensioner(sp)...Non AC...?

Does the belt tensioner for the Non AC 6bt, have slots for the "inside" of the belt? I would like to fire this one up with no AC for now, but... From what I can see, plus the diagram on my 93's hood, the ribbed part of the belt(inside) will be riding on the tensioner wheel. Do I need a different tensioner?

It should use the same tensioner, just the non-a/c routing & non-a/c belt.

Alan. I've seen those diagrams. I have them on the inside of the hood of my '93. If you follow the path, the ribbed side or "inside" of the belt will contact the tensioner wheel. Is that correct? There are no grooves on my tensioner "wheel" nor the one I looked at at Carquest today. Whatcha think?

Seriously I don't know, but now I see what you're saying.



Anyone out in 1st. Gen. land that has a non-A/C truck? Does the tensioner wheel on this type truck have groves on the pulley to accept the ribs of the serpentine belt? Or do the ribs just run on the same smooth wheel as the A/C trucks?

Same tensioner ac or non. Doesn't matter. Everyone should have a nonAC belt for a spare, and in case your AC compressor locks up on you on the road.

I just looked at mine. . non A/C. The tensioner is grooved to mate with the grooves in the belt. It's probably original.

This is a super common tensioner, available either smooth or grooved. You may have to go to a better parts house to get a grooved one though.
