Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Too much fuel pressure

Has anyone had trouble with this pulley going bad? What were the symptoms?

I'm hearing a strange noise that sounds somewhat like a bad bearing. It's most noticable when the engine is cold. I'm sure it's not the air conditioning compressor pulley.

Thanks, Dave

I have!!!! I heard a squeal coming from the engine compartment. I released the tension and spun the pulley and it felt tight. Also according to the Dodge desiel mech. , if you hear a squeak when you release the tension, it needs to be replaced.
It takes about 20 minutes to change. A tip that I got was to remove the radiator overflow bottle(long flat screw driver behind the bottle and lift up on the bottle) before releasing the tension so that it has room to release all the tension. Here local it cost me $148. 00 tax and all, but at moparsforless(Advantage Dodge,New Mexico 800-748-2139), it was $105 before tax.
Let me know if you need any more information. .

Great people to deal with at Practical Solutions 403-727-5144. I purchased my boost module from them. Sent them my check and sooner than I expected, the big brown truck showed up. I need to get the grid heater, pully and the high idler.

What the dealer told me was that if the tensioner spring squeaks when you release the tension, the spring has a problem. I too was going to buy just the wheel, but after I heard that I was concerned about it. I have had this dealer do a bunch of work and I trust what the mech. says.

Mine went bad at about 36000 miles. I bought a new one (pre TDRoundtable) and put it on and she's still okay. Mine squawked like a nestful of birds when cold and damp. I didn't know where to check. I replaced it on a hunch.

I think it was Thrusday I ordered two heavy duty idler pulleys from Practical Solutions. He was not set up yet to take credit cards so he said he would have his wife send them that day if I would put him a check in the mail that day. Got busy that day & didn't do it till next day. Saturday night when I got home from work they were there. Now thats what I call service. Looks like they are well made. We will put the first one on my sons 99 when he changes his serpentine belt before long. If the rest of there service is like this was they will do good.

Also, an aside, be sure to check the bolts that hold the fan pulley to the hub. I recently had a failure of same on my o1.
They fell out causing the fan belt to break. I have never touched these bolts previously, no reason to but I will chk from now on!

A little late since you have parts on the way...

It is very simple to remove serpentine belt and spin each bearing bareing item (tensioner, A/C, water pump, fan, alternator) to see which one is noisy.
