Need Help With Wiring/Dead Draw Issue

Bad vibration under load

Just crossed 150K on the Ram. Probably should have changed the serpentine long ago.

In any event, Geno's list OEM and aftermarket belts. Leaning toward original. Any advice?

Mopar also carries an overrunning alternator pulley that helps prevent belt chirp AND belt jumping on shutdown, by allowing the freer spinning pulley to adsorb some of the belts energy on engine shutdown. Part #5183490AA

DEFINITELY X2 on double checking ALL of the pulleys, tensioner assembly while your belt is off.

If you got 150K on the Mopar belt,I'd stick with that. My '07 doesn't chirp. My '98. 5 chirper was cured with a Gatorback.

I wonder if Dodge started installing the overrunning alt pully on all models at a certain point in time after they became aware of the problem on the 05... might explain why your 07 does not chirp??

I run the Goodyear Gatorback too. Mine has a chirp, but only in the summer when the temps are up and the engine is hot (especially after running with the A/C). My wife's '04 did it all the time and I had the dealer perform the TSB related to this and it took care of the problem.

I'd stick with Mopar for the belt. The water pump that Geno's carrys seems to be a much better design than the stock unit. With larger a shaft and seals. I'd also change the tentioner pully asy to the Gates unit Geno's has, it has a steel pully instead of plastic again the berring seems to be a better design. At 150,000 mi your on borrowed time with the stock stuff. Ya'd think that they'd use better parts but they have to keep the cost down somewhere. The people at Geno's have done alot of research to make sure that the parts they have are the best.

I had a gatorback belt, I experienced a lot of play/vibration at idle with the belt.

The gatorback is now the spare only.

I put the original mopar belt back on and no further excessive play/vibration.

The TSB you are referring to is the one that replaces the alternator pulley with the upgraded, over-running alt pully.

GoodYear Gatorback belt !!! I would not worry about water pump & the tentioner pulley at this LOW mileage, but it is not a bad idea to have the parts in stock just in case.

I don't know about that... the idler pully above the water pump AND belt tensioner pullies were replaced on my truck under warranty at 54k miles.

Besides checking them and worrying about them are 2 different things! ;)
