It's been a while since I changed the belt on the 3rd gen; but I believe all you need is a 3/8" square drive (could be 1/2", but I don't think so) and a decent length cheater bar if you have one. I used the Gearwrench serpentine belt tool, so I don't know exactly what length you need. It's not very difficult to change though. Just make sure to pay close attention to how the belt is routed before removal... :D
 
On my '06, I use a long handled (1. 5') 1/2" drive ratchet, no cheater needed. Just a little working overhead with crossed arms to slide the belt behind the tensioner assembly. The ratchet is a close fit and rubs on the fan shroud a bit but doesn't cause any damage. This method seems to work well for me.
