It's been a while since I changed the belt on the 3rd gen; but I believe all you need is a 3/8" square drive (could be 1/2", but I don't think so) and a decent length cheater bar if you have one. I used the Gearwrench serpentine belt tool, so I don't know exactly what length you need. It's not very difficult to change though. Just make sure to pay close attention to how the belt is routed before removal...
On my '06, I use a long handled (1. 5') 1/2" drive ratchet, no cheater needed. Just a little working overhead with crossed arms to slide the belt behind the tensioner assembly. The ratchet is a close fit and rubs on the fan shroud a bit but doesn't cause any damage. This method seems to work well for me.
