serpentine belt

So, I looked at my existing (which is the original) serpentine belt and it appears to have 7 ribs. Then I look at the replacement Gates one (No. K081264) purchased at Geno's a few years back to have in my emergency kit (and yet to be installed) and it appears to have 8 ribs. Now wondering if this new belt would be compatible. Counted the grooves on one of the pulleys and counted 7. Not sure I'm thinking straight on this.

I thought there was eight including the sides. I'd check to see if yours is the same width as the new one and that if your belt is damaged.
