Who makes the best belts, I need to replace the one on my truck and on my car. The options I have are: Goodyear (gatorback), Delco and Dayco. I would like to use the best due to the fact the one on my car doesn't look like the easiest to change.

thanks,

Cory

im due for a new belt also

isnt the one from goodyear supposed to have a "lifetime" or million mile warranty?, something about kevlar re-enforced etc. ?

You can get a pair for $50 here - one for AC and one without (in case your compressor siezes, but who needs AC if the primary belt breaks anyway).

Don't sweat the small stuff, changing the belts is a 10 minuet job, just need to have the right tools. The tensioner is the pain in the butt, but then again it does have the job of holding things together. If you have a spare body, someone to hold the tensioner for you, then you are home free. If not, like I usually have to do, then you will need to use a cheater pipe on the breaker bar or find a way to tie back the handle which will allow you to use both hands. I have changed them both ways, and it is not really that bad. You simply route the belt around the pulleys, and arrange it so that the last thing needed is to tuck the belt behind the tensioner. One word of caution, like anything that is under extreme pressure, be very careful with your fingers, and respect the end of the breaker bar.

For the belts themselves, try ProWeld Performance Parts. They stock a huge assortment of truck maintainance items including Serpentine Belts for Dodge/Cummins trucks. While you are there check out all the other stuff they offer, like LED lights, trailer accessories, and electrical supplies. The addy is www.proweldperformanceparts.com, tell them you are with the TDR and get 10% off.
