I have been looking at buying a service manual for my 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. All the ones I have seen up to now have been 4 volume sets. I just found a 10 volume set for less money.

Does anybody know the difference?

Thanks,

Darin

The official manuals are available either through Genos or via Tech Authority. The number of volumes varies a little by model year. I have a complete set for 2003, which includes the service manual, wiring schematic, powertrain diagnostics manual, body manual, transmission manual, and chassis manual. That's 6 volumes.

The number of volumes may have increased or decreased since 2003, which is why you should go by what Tech Authority says are the available volumes.

While the paper manuals are nice, I've found the DVD more useful.

The DVD is searchable, so it is easier to find information, especially if it is in several sections.

Plus you can print out a clean copy of the pages you need (no more missing, torn, frayed, dirt or oil smeared pages)

Plus the DVD costs less.

I have a copy of the DvD - it is OK for quick search and it is more portable. For sitting down and studying a manual - I don't have enough screen space to make it really usuable. I tried the DVD route first... these manuals were on ebay, look like new.

Just seemed hard to believe 4 volumes at Genos and then this 10 vol set. They are by Daimler Chrysler Corp. 2005 Service Manual Volume 1 of 10 is what I am looking at. 1500-2500-3500

Includes SRT-10 and Diesel.

If you travel with tools and laptop, the CD version is really nice to bring along. It may
pay for itself if you can avoid a visit to the nearest dealer. Your local library may have
one on the shelf as well.
