Hi all, recent member and first time post - Dodge owner forever. I have an '02 2500 4x4 automatic, no upgrades. After the usual spate of ball joints, lift pump, VP44 etc. I am wondering if, as a pre-emptive strike, I should have the bands tightened on the trans. I'm coming up on 120K miles, have changed the fluid twice and the filter once. The trans has never given me any problems and I'd like to keep it that way. Any thoughts?

I change the fluid in my 5600 at every 20,000 to keep it working properly. I have had to replace autos in the past, and on both trannys, I was told by the repair shops that if I dump the pan and change the filter and refill, that alone will keep the lube characteristics of the oil in good condition. That is a cheap price compared to the bill for a rebuild.
