I had dropped an email to Cummins regarding why they hadn't updated cummins.com to the new Ram and common rail Cummins. Here is their response, with an interesting note about getting this engine serviced:
"We've been advised to redirect you to the Dodge website for such information. The ISB for Dodge is a uniquely Dodge Ram product in that our engines for October 2002 are configured differently, Dodge is now handling the service via a proprietary tool (not available to Cummins distributors unless then spend $5K to buy one etc. ) Check out their website. Regards, Powermaster"
Sounds like, if you have an 03 Cummins, Cummins shops may not be able to fix it as easily as in the past unless they buy this $5000 computer diagnostic tool. This is going to make finding a competent quality Dodge service department a must in the future, unless the local Cummins distributor sees enough Rams to make the investment worthwhile.
