my idle was set last october by jim jessup (cummins b specialist). he set it so that it was at 750 rpm in drive and the air on...

now, it is about 100 rpm lower. is this normal to have to re-adjust 8mo. later?

also, do i just turn the screw at the bottom of the pump? what size is it?

thanks for all of the help.....

idle screw

My truck is a 97 with the peirs pump. I don't know if you have the same pump (P7100) but the adjustment screw is at the back of the pump. A 10 mm box wrench will fit the lock nut and screw. I did my adjustment with the engine off. (Took a good guess at it). Its a hard location to reach and it helps to have someone hold the throttle open for you. My idle was down to 600 so my guess to get it back to 1000 was 1/2 turn. I hit it on the head. Idle was at 750 with ac and in drive. Also check to see if your throttle cable is starting to streach. You need a service book to show you where

the 5 inch measurement should be. Good luck.
