I recently learned that ISSPRO has an upgrade for certain models of their EV2 electronic fuel pressure guage, whereby it can be programmed to illuminate if the pressure drops to a pre-set level. I'm usually not a fan of idiot-lights, but this would seem to be a useful feature, by providing visual indicator to check the actual guage.

A short conversation with the factory revealed further, that my existing guage could be retrofitted with this modification, at a very reasonable price (much less than the cost of a replacement guage). My question is, at what level should I have them pre-set this? When I used to have a BD Power low-pressure warning light, it was factory set at 5psi, so as to warn before permanent damage was done to the VP-44. Should I have this one set for 5psi also, or some slightly higher level (say, 7 or 10 psi).

I'm interested in opinions and experience with this particular guage model. Not really interested in spending a lot of money on a whole new set of guages and sending units.

What fuel pressure do you generally run? I have my AD set at 16-17 so 8-10 psi would be a good set point For me.

JR, I usually run it at 16-18psi also. Obviously, it pulls down a few psi on steep hills or heavy towing.

The set point for the warning light would be to alert the driver before damage occurs to the VP-44 however, which is why I was thinking about a lower setting.

IMO 8-10 should be a pretty good set point. I never cared for the low pressure lights because at 3-5 psi your already beginning to starve the VP. 8-10 psi should be a happy medium because your lift pump should never pull down that far under any normal circumstances and its enough of a cushion that you shouldn't be doing any real damage to your injection pump.
