I just installed these in the rear of my '01 long bed 2500 4X4.

There were no instructions whatsoever on how to set them. I don't see any index mark for the adjustable setting dial.

I have noted on this forum where some have them at 3-5 empty and 9 loaded.

How do you set them; do you start fully counterclockwise being the minimum and go clockwise to increase the setting?

Thanks

Yes, fully counter is "O" setting. I had them on the 99 3500 I had, set the rear on "O" empty and 5 loaded. Same for the front empty, about 3 loaded. You will feel the detent as you turn the knob. bg

BG is correct. The fully counterclockwise click (detent) is "0". The last click clockwise is "9". I haul a heavy slide in truck camper and run my Ranchos on the rear axle set on "9". When unloaded I set them on "2". Try different settings and find the one you like.

BTW, I have Bilsteins on the front and like the combination with adjustable Ranchos on the rear much better than Ranchos on all four corners.

I can't believe you guys run that soft on the front. That is a lot of cast iron over the front axle.

I run mine at 7 front and 4 rear unloaded, 7-9 rear loaded. Same with my tires. 80 front, 55 rear unloaded, 80 loaded.

Thanks to all for the timely responses.
I have a similar arrangement now as Bill. I have Bilsteins upfront; they have a lifetime guarantee and I also felt that I needed a firm shock in front with the heavy engine.
Having an adjustable shock in back made a lot of sense to me.
I will try some of the settings you all recommended and see how it works.

I ran the old 5 position shocks at 3 front 1 rear when empty and 3 front 5 rear when loaded. I just replaced them with new, 9 position with the air remote controller and am still playing with it. Probably 5 front and 0 rear empty 5 front and 9 rear when fully loaded.

hello B. G. . Smith
Harrison root here(lt1harry). cruising through and saw your name.
I live in Beaumont. 2001 4x4 2500 Cummins, long bed, quad cab.
bought last year 159,000 miles.

I had the old 5 position Ranchos on the 2002 dually. 3 front/2 rear empty and 4 front/5 rear towing worked great.

Welcome Harry, see you have been member since July of 2012. Not too many members on here in this area that i know of, was another here in PN and one in Hemphill. Also used to be a group that met monthly in Houston but don't know if they are stil around. You need to add your truck to your signature so it will show at the bottom when you post. Lots of useful info on this forum. Are yo military? bg
