When I lock my vehicle (2007. 5 RAM 3500 Mega Cab) the security alarm sounds about 15 seconds after locking the vehicle. If I open the vehicle door and reset the alarm and try a second time the vehicle locks and no alarm sounds.

This problem has occurred several times, always with the same pattern. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, or knows of a fix.

You don't say what year your truck is but the problem might be the lock sensor in the drivers door. It may not be "sensing" the door is closed and secure. I believe the 15 second delay is what it takes before the alarm actually sets on the truck after it is locked.

Thanks for the reply!

It's a 2007. 5 one of the early 6. 7L engines.

I'll try and locate the door sensor, it's probably activated by the door switch.

Thanks Alan for your suggestion

The sensor is part of the latch mechanism inside the door. Sometimes it is as simple as the connector inside the door that is giving the problem. Do a search on the forums. There was another thread about this about a month ago. That might give you some insight into the troubleshooting.

get a revelco and you can leave the keys in it and have the doors open and no one can take it... lol thats how I ended my theft worries

I think there may be an issue of installation or may be there is a fault in the lock sensor that your alarm sound Even the door locked. I think you in a workshop to fix the door sensor in your vehicle.
