My 2012 didn't come with the frame filter like the newer trucks. I recently learned (through TDR magazine) that Mopar has a series of severe duty accessories some years back which included a frame fuel filter and a kit to both relocate the tank ventilation and add a filter.

Back when they came out they were fairly expensive: I believe the fuel filter was 300 or 400 bucks. Nowadays, the price existing unsold inventory has plumbeted and picked up the kit for 65 shipped. I like this kit better primarily because, well, it's Mopar, but also because it has a heater element and a WIF sensor which is uncommon in the other aftermarket options.

The kit came in a sealed Mopar box with all parts included. I bought mine on eBay. As I was going through the seller store (a dealer in TX, from the shipping label), I found also the fuel tank breather kit (both extension line and filter) for 40 bucks so I bought them. They should be in sometime next week. Here's the seller I got the parts from -> http://www.ebay.com/usr/autopartsmopar?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754

Here's the customer brochure from back then -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1epIteFE7i-VUxNRkM0U2FNN2c/view?usp=sharing

Here's the bulletin -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1epIteFE7i-d1RKdFB3SjZETW8/view?usp=sharing

Here's the TDR article -> http://cdn.genosgarage.com/downloads/TechPDF/TDR77_03andup-FuelFilters.pdf

Also, from research I've done the filter element is a Mann+Hummel PL250 or PL250/1 -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1epIteFE7i-bDQ0Z2oxS3JTX1E/view?usp=sharing

But I believe you can also adapt it to use Fleetguard fuel filter by changing the attachment and possibly the WIF sensor (if needed I'll look into further)

And here's some pictures:

Oddly enough...............that fuel filter pictured above closely resembles the one that was used on the Jeep Liberty CRD's.

I'll post this here as well.

I scanned the installation instructions for the fuel filter since the one around miss a page -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1epIteFE7i-N0VDcVVmV3N3M0U/view?usp=sharing

I also received the fuel tank ventilation kit with the additional filter.

The first is nothing more than an extended tube that connects to the two ventilation points in the tank

The second replaces the terminal of the rubber hose with an actual filter.

Bought both from the same eBay seller (autopartsmopar on eBay) for about 50 bucks

The add on filter came with instructions -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1epIteFE7i-TVc5SEs1ZHFUVWM/view?usp=sharing

The hose didn't, but the box looks like it has been open before. I'm trying to figure out if it never had instructions to begin with or they are simply missing. If anyone has the answer, let me know. I sent an email to Robert Patton of TDR since he wrote the article a while back that got me learning about these accessories.

I'm mostly curious of what's the best routing for the hose and how to get to one of the vents on top of the tank. I can see the front one, but not the rear. I'm wondering if the tank has to be lowered or if you can get access by maybe removing the wheel well liner...
