Help!! My kid wants a Power Wheels Truck

Do you like hunting and fishing? Read this little tidbit!

My wife has a couple of business meetings near downtown San Francisco on 18/19 Oct. We will be traveling with our slide-in camper and would like recommendations for a campground convenient to downtown. Also, what's the parking like around the 2700 block of Folsom?

We stayed at the Novato RV Park in Novato in June. Very clean and nice. Close to the interstate, so a little noisy, but easy to get into San Fran, and not too terribly far north of the Golden Gate.

If you are actually staying in San Francisco, There is an "RV" park right in the area you ask about. It isn't much when compared to the ones you find in the country, but I believe that there are hook ups and drains. I think it is run by the State of California, Dept. of Parks and REC. It is a fenced in area, with limited access to the riff raff of the city. It used to be a Questionable neighboorhood, but I think with the Building of the SF giants Pac Bell Park, it has improved considerably since. If you have the opportunity to either tow a second vehicle, or are willing to move each day, You might try the Kelly beach RV. campground located in Half Moon Bay. It also is run by the State Parks, and as a bonus, you are really close to the world Famous HVAC. Pacifica is also a neat little city, about 20 minutes from SF. I can do some research and get back to you. Email me direct if I can help. Matt

I did a web search and found a RV park next to Candlestick (3Com) Park. Has anyone stayed there? It's only a couple miles from downtown so she could cab or bus in. I hate having to bully my way around in towntown traffic with my giant camper!

Sounds like some nice RV parks down on the beach, but I don't want to fight traffic!

Candlestick point RV park is a NO!!!. It is in a really pretty area but it is surrounded by Hunter Point, a notoriously bad area of San Francisco. EG. high murder rates, gang bangers, car jackings and genral mahem. It is also a pretty racially tense area. It is right on the San Francisco bay,and has pretty views. But don't have your wife take a bus. THat is asking for trouble. And Cabs might not come out to pick you up there. I guess that the Down Town RV park must have closed due to redevelopement of the area. I also looked after I responded and was unable to locate it too. I'll sniff around with the contacts I have and see what I can do. She might be able to take Bart (The Bay area Subway system) or a ferry over from the East Bay. THat's if BART is not on strike.

RV Park in Bay Area

When we are in the Bay Area, we stay in Vallejo(east of SF on I-80) at the Tradewinds RV Park and take the ferry to SF. I don't know the times it runs or if it wold get you in the downtown area soon enough, but it is an option and you don't have to fight the traffic.

Whenever I go to the city I park in Stonestown Shopping center on 19th Ave and take the Muni train downtown. No sense trying to drive in the city if you can help it. The Muni buses and trains run all the time and you don't have to find parking for them. That's a BIG expensive hassle downtown! If you are not near the city take the BART or the ferry to get there.

My folks stayed at place in Redwood City (right off 101) when my sister had her baby. Not real close to downtown but I think Cal Train is relatively close by.

What about staying a little farther from downtown and renting a small car to get around?
