In December I rebuilt the factory steering shaft and while it worked well afterward, the pounding required to install the roll pin caused the steering box to leak slightly from the adjuster plug to steering box thread area.

Today I replaced the adjuster plug assembly ($80 at Fullerton Dodge, Fullerton CA) which includes the big steel bearing holder with all bearings and seals fully assembled. I also installed the Borgeson steering shaft. I have to say they do build a premium quality unit. Ultra Heavy Duty throughout.
I really didn't expect a difference because my steering shaft was fine after the rebuild but now the steering feels better than new!

If any of you have been thinking of doing this modification it is worth the money ($190) and time (1. 5 hours).

Welcome Back!

Hey Mark93!

Good to see you back on the board! I've been wondering how you & the truck have been doing.

Congratulations on the steering shaft installation... This is on my list of next modifications for my truck. SWEET!

Suprised

 Hey KEENO, I'm a little suprised that you don't already have a Borgeson Steering Shaft since you've got those big meats on the front!:D I've got 215/85 on mine and when I got the truck you had to constantly correct your path, Borgeson solved that !:)

P. S. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to change my signature yet, can one of you gentlemen lead me in the right direction?, I need to add my Lucas "Ol Blue Specials":D :D :D

Dieselman359, to edit sig click on profile on one of your post then user cp then edit profile.

Hey Dieselman359!

I hope you have gotten your signature "sorted out" w/ the help of Gene H.

My truck seems to steer just fine once again after installing the Mopar "Coupler" kit that cost $5. 08 @ my local Dodge shop. But, it's only a matter of time once again before it needs more attention and I'll go w/ the Borgeson or Flame River.
