In December I rebuilt the factory steering shaft and while it worked well afterward, the pounding required to install the roll pin caused the steering box to leak slightly from the adjuster plug to steering box thread area.
Today I replaced the adjuster plug assembly ($80 at Fullerton Dodge, Fullerton CA) which includes the big steel bearing holder with all bearings and seals fully assembled. I also installed the Borgeson steering shaft. I have to say they do build a premium quality unit. Ultra Heavy Duty throughout.
I really didn't expect a difference because my steering shaft was fine after the rebuild but now the steering feels better than new!
If any of you have been thinking of doing this modification it is worth the money ($190) and time (1. 5 hours).
