Shake-n-bake aluminum polishing?

A friend gave me a tip for cleaning aluminum after polishing it and it works great. After you work something over with the last stage polish, take some flour and sprinkle it over the aluminum then wipe it off with a clean rag. This instantly takes all the crap off and leaves a residue free shine in no time. Finish off with a little compressed air. I just finished polishing my diamond tread like this and it was very easy.

I saw a guy doing this at a car show with his paint. I'm a clean freak, and this car was clean and shined like a mirror.
