Shaking issues

My truck recently started shaking at lower rpm’s like when coming to a stop or at take off. It's not motor related and is more noticeable after unhooking the trailer. I was getting some squeaking from the brakes and thought maybe a warped rotor so I just recently had new front rotors and HD pads put on and it's still there. Anybody ever experience anything like this?

Probably a bad u joint. This is a common problem and there are a lot of posts about this. Do a search and you will get a lot of info.

I have new ball and "U" joints on the front end but they were checked out again anyway when the brake job was done last week and are good.

What about the back u joints? They may look good but can be bad, usually dry. When the joints on my back drive shaft went I thought the truck was falling apart when I came to a start and again when starting out. Like you said it is worse after unhooking the trailer as they are probably hotter from pulling. You could check them for heat after a drive and if you find a hot one you've found the problem. A member posted last week where he removed the drive shaft and found a stiff u joint. Maybe some one else has another idea. By the way what is your truck as you have no info.

Scott, sounds like mine when my rear U joint(s) started going south. Started off small and got worse really quick !! One joint completely gone, other 3 had some dried up 'dust" in them. Make sure you get the greasable ones and do them all. Check the carrier bearing too while its out.

Sounds good guy's I did a search and there was a lot on the driveline issues.



I have a good driveline shop local here I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they want to balance the drive line and install new universal joints. I am hauling the puller up to Washington and leaving here Thursday hope they can fit me in and have the joints in stock they may not have the precision greaseable ones so I may have to go with stock for now as I would like to have it taken care of before I leave Thursday.
