Ok its not a suprise that it gets cold here, it was -7f this morining when I fired up my truck.

The issue Im having is after letting the truck warm up for 15 min or so Im hearing a growling sound when im driving away. I HEAR IT AND FEEL IT in the steering and when I apply the brakes.

Is this normal when cold ? I have had this happen several times now but mostly when the truck is left outside and its 20f or below. Am I damaging anything by driving it when it does this.

It does go away after a about a good half hour of driving.

Mind did the same thing recently with the temp dropping below zero. Steering pump was really a sing'n! Anyways, I following the directions I read about on here to clean the filter inside the pump. I did this, refilled with regular ATF (couldn't find any syn ATF?) and seems much better. No more whining on cold mornings... I'm sure the syn fluid would help even more though, man it's been cold. Wind chill was like -20 a couple of days ago.
