my boss sent me to the john deere store to buy oil for the tractors. i asked him if i should take my truck or his. he asked if mine pasted insection i said nope. so i took mine... . well i get to the store and get the oil pay for it with a check and go out side to go back to the farm... . well then the fun started... ... :( i was waiting for the glow plugs to warm up (habbit) and went to start her and she didn't move and the lights went out on the dash board..... darn :{ ... ... call my boss up "ROOONNNN" he told me to buy a new battery. back in side we went!! :D they looked at it and said well we only have a 650 cca (at 0*F) and in it went. they put the battery on my bosses account (good thing i only had 10$) and he said that they just put new battery acide in it... will this start my truck when it's 5*F outside??? and about how much will this battery cost my boss then me?? don't make this hurt more then it has too

P. S. when i got back i had to say "TOLD U SOO!!!"

Well no glow plugs on your Cummins. Minimum cca is 1025 at 0*F. Not to say it won't start with your little guy battery, but I wouldn't trust it at 5*F, plus your starter and alternator won't appreciate it either. Find a group 31 1025+cca battery and be done with it.

You COULD plug it in at 5 deg above zero. No law against that. Though it is fun to see a PSD crank and crank when it's cold outside, and the cummins goes "crank, Vroom!" I currently have about 900CCA in mine; that was all they had at work when my battery blew its top, so for $30, you get what you pay for. It never gets cold around here, though; it's a non-issue for me.

ALso, get your starter checked- if it is bad, it can drag on everything.

Hey what makes the difference if the english is correct? Give the guy a break, he just wants information. At least he knows what kind of truck to drive so he can't be all that bad. I do however agree that you should have a battery with more cold cranking amps. It is hard on the starter and electrical system due to a voltage drop when you start an engine with too small a battery. I have two 900's sitting side by side in mine and it starts no matter how cold it gets.

it's ok..... i know who to send my english essays to get spelled checked... ... *smiles* now maybe people will think twice about picking on people about there english.

michigandon i passed english with a 85 and school starts the 7th so be ready hehehehehe

Why's his English matter?

So those of us who try (TRY, cant always succeed, though) to speak proper English can make out what he's trying to say. Punctuation helps a lot. Sounds like you need a new ghost writer if she can only get you an 85  :-laf ;)
