Was wondering if anyone has installed this. Curious about field of vision and how visors work after installation.
Would a CB fit on the shelf??

I had a "Shelf-it" installed in a '96 GMC 4x4 (that I unloaded for my Ram). I had excellent use from it. Easy to install. Just remove the visors(retaining the screws),install the shelf using the same holes that the visors used, then re-install the visors using holes provided in the shelf. I didn't notice all that much obscurrance of vision. But I'm JUST 6' tall. If your taller, you might have a problem. As for the visors, they don't swing all the way up (like against the headliner) but I never used them anyway. Can you get a CB on the shelf? Yes if the unit ia a small one, like a Midland or a Radio Shack. Anything larger will hit the front edge of the headliner.
All in all, I liked mine. Gave me somewhere to throw all the little junk that accumulates.
My question is: on the Ram, will the shelf interfere with the overhead console? I don't have the wazoo computer/temp gauge, BUT I do have the garage door opener access and the glasses holder. Anyone out there??

I put the shelf-it in my truck, despite some misgivings. They were basically not justified. The sun visors still work well, and I can put a sunshade in the windshield.
It firs well and looks like a factory item. It is about as handy as a pocket on a shirt.

My 92 had a Shelf-it installed and I found that it was a very nice storage area for all the stuff you see on thier web site. Installation was simple, fit was great, visors worked fine and will do it again as $$$$ allows. If I had to guess, a person would have to be in the 6' or taller range before visability was a problem.

I put one in the truck I have now, a std cab Ford 3/4 ton. It's handy, expands the room available in the cab a bit, but things do fall off of it when traversing uneven terrain. Which may be a function of how it's configured. I've thought about adding some kind of retaining thing made out of netting and velcro or something so that small items can't fly off. It would then be pretty nifty. It's easily installed... no interference w/ visibility, but I'm a short person.

Installed a Shelf-it in my '97. Works well. I'm 6'3, no visibility problems at all. I don't need the visor however. This might obscure your vision if it is still in place(if you are tall). I wouldn't be without it. .

overhead shelf is very handy. installed it myself in my 99' 3500 SLT. have a few buddies who are 6'3" or so and the visors hung down a little low so I took them off completely. 1 1/2" red unterior lights in the mounting holes where the visors went. mounted double row of toggle switches on driver side to control lights and auxillary fuel tank pump. garage door opener holder on console is blocked but never used it anyway. will have a shelf in all my trucks from now on, very useful and holds alot of stuff. good luck and good rammin'

I put one on my 92 Std Cab and like it. No visability probs for my shorty bod but it bugs my son. He's just not used to it,his truck doesn't have one. I plan to put a small CB and speaker for it up there out of the way. Will work great for those kind of things. Only minus I see is the visors no longer swings to the drivers side window and that can be annoying with the sun to your left.

I have a shelf-it I installed about 1 year ago. I also have a full size CB (Galaxy 33) mounted in the middle. I like the storage. The two draw backs were the sunvisors don't work well and the unit would bounce with the weight of the CB in the middle (piece of foam solved the problem).

Can anyone who has installed one in a '94 or later truck comment on how the visors work in their truck?

My question about these units is how they work with the overhead console and computer. Can you still access and read the computer? I read that it may interfere with the sunglass holder which is leading me to believe I would loose one of my much adored bell/whistle/lighted push button thingys -
