Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Shelf life of AMSOIL gear lube?

I've had five bottles of the 75w-140 on the shelf for three yrs and decided to change rear diff. Same oil out looks reddish in color but oil in looks clear, or close to it. Should I be concerned? Never noticed that before. Going on a long trailer camping trip and don't want any problems. What do you guys think?

I seriously doubt the Amsoil - or any competitive synthetic oil wouldn't be entirely useful at that length of time on the shelf, as long as the container seal was intact...



Shucks, some guys run their Amsoil ENGINE oil longer than that!

Oil will be fine, it only breaks down with use. Extended storage will sometimes allow some of the additive pkg to settle so a little shaking of the container is not a bad idea

Well, this is true of synthetics but NOT dino oils. Dino oils that sit on the shelf can see waxing when exposed to cold temps.



As for shelf life with Amsoil gear lube, your shelves should last forever! Amsoil makes the finest shelf gear lubricant for all those with geared shelves. Remember-- amsoil has been making shelf lube since the 1970s, long before all those copycats. You could probably run amsoil lube on your shelves and NEVER see the shelves wear out-- and that's with over 409,000 miles without a single change!!
