You have all been invited to sign up for the Shell Webinar regarding the new PC-11 oils coming in 2017 vs. the CJ-4 oil.

I asked if this was open to the public (the TDR of course) and it is. The Shell rep is more than happy to have the TDR membership join in. There will be Q&A after the presentation.

I encourage any of you that can spare the hour to do so. January 27th from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm EST.

Sign up using the link below.

If you would like to know more about webinars in general or have never attended one let me know. They work really well.

Is there any way this can be recorded and viewed at a later date? The time happens to be in the middle of my work day..... And yes I have been to many a webinars - and slept through a few too!

I have trouble staying awake watching webinars in the winter as I shut the office door and the heat coming from the radiator behind me will induce a nappy feeling...:D

I would enter that into the comments section when you sign up, a lot of the Daimler webinars are available after the fact. They might even send it to you for later viewing.

If you don't get a response let me know and I will tackle my Shell rep.

I think the days of backward compatible oil specs are on their way out the door. Currently there is heavy consideration of two subcategories of PC-11, a low viscosity grade with improved fuel economy as the main driver, and an upgraded version of the CJ4 oils with similar HTHS limits to protect current and older HD engines that require a higher viscosity oil. Even the latter spec oil will have an increased number of requirements and more stringent tests to carry the new certification, which will likely increase the price much like CJ4 oils increased roughly 25% over the former CI4 oils.
If they do go to two different specs, one for HD and one for passenger vehicles, things could get really messy for the not so observant DIY'ers and Jiffy Lube "experts".

Not familiar with a webinar (back country Ohio farm boy here)

I may be out of town on the 27, but may be available to watch. Can these be viewed from a smart phone? What are the requirements?
If that's a no go but they can send it to me to watch when I get home, I would be all for that too.
