I'm looking for a new shell for the truck. I am thinking that I would like cargo doors as opposed to keeping the tail gate. Are there any composite shells that have cargo doors as an option. I've been looking at the "Tradesman" stuff. They are alloy but look nice. Any other ideas? I will be needing racks on the driver side to fit windsurfing boards stacked, passenger side gets tool boxs.

Thanks

I've been looking at the "Caravan" website and the linked thread. They look/sound nice, base price of over 2k. I do know there is a lot of work that goes into building something like this. I've thought about building my own composite shell, big project. They look similar to the "Tradesman".

There's some surfers in my neighborhood with a Caravan camper on a '92 Chevy 2500 4wd. This shell has survived countless trips to Punta San Juanico and all over the Pacific side of Baja and structurally it looks great.

I do love my Caravan... they are more then willing to customize to your satisfaction.

It is similar to the Tradesman, BUT they are the original designers of this kind of topper and they have been making them for over 30 years. Also, they are made from steel, not aluminum, and priemd and painted inside and out. There lumber rack is rated for over 1000#, unlike the crappy (but sold as HD) one on my old gemtop that would bend with just a few boards on it.
