Shift Light

How would a person go about installing a shift light and digital tach, like the ones made by Stewart Warner? I have seen a few pics of diesel trucks with them installed, but can't find any info on how they pic up an RPM signal.





Would like to do somthing like this:

Most aftermarket diesel tachs have a probe that attaches to the alternator to pick up the engine RPM. Don't know much about shift lights - I assume their built into the gauge but not sure how and when they activate.



Go to Auto Meter's website and check out some install instructions for diesel tachs. That should help some.
