Competition Bullydog dyno event

Competition Tampico, Indiana Sled pull

i have only pulled one time and that was the rookie class at muncie and diesel darrell rode with me and i really appreciate it. thanks darrell!:D my question is and by my sig below you can see what is on my truck i want to pull at a local fair and was wondering about shifting from 3rd to 4th. it felt like i ran out of gear in the rookie class but was just wondering about this. remeber i am no experienced puller by any means but i do respect the knowledge of people on this site. thanks!!

launching

How did you launch your truck with the fe?? I have a similar setup(minus the 40):( . I am just concerned about the chatter the clutch has if you slip it? or do you 3k and dump it?

rev up to about 2700 and ease out on the clutch until it is moving pretty good and then release. that is the way darrell walked me through it. it worked good and didn't have any clutch problems. :D

Warning, with enough heat build up and rpm differential, the FE will not hook up if you slip it too much. Trust me been there done that. If that is the type of launch you want to do buy a twin disc pulling clutch

So, if you don't shift you have to decide whether your clutch can take a 4th gear 4 low launch, or take ~ 10 mph in 3rd Low. Thats a hard choice if you do not have THE clutch !!!
