shifted my 48re into 2nd at 50mph------WOW

I shifted my 48re into 2nd gear at 50mph and to my surprise the transmission shifted into 3rd gear with tc lockup. It stayed there until I slowed to

40 mph then shifted to 2nd. Has anyone done this and is this a cure for the overdrive lockout problem on the 05 trucks? I have done this several times at 50mph with the same results.

So going 50mph you manually pulled it into 2nd gear?

yes, I pulled it down in 2nd at 50mph

Thats not good, the computer will not let it downshift like that so you dont over-rev the motor...

when I have the lever in 2nd gear, I am already at 2K RMP at 30 MPH, I cannot imagine 50 MPH! (I have 4. 10's, 48re)

I had an old 86' ford econoline van that I could pull the shifter into 1st at 80MPH and it would only downshift as RPM was available. I did it by mistake the first time then used it to my advantage for braking



I tell ya it would freek out people in the passangers seat

Wait till you have a 47re that won't let you down shift till 25... ..... sucks in the mouintains.
