I've got my Pacbrake installed and working. I use the throttle switch to activate the brake. I like the switch where it is and want to keep it, but also would like to install a shifter switch. What do I need to keep both: the switch as the master and the shift switch for shifting. Does anybody make a switch for Pacbrake? If not, where to go?

John,

I can't remember where I ordered mine from, I'm thinking BD. It has two wires. Real simple install. There is a hot wire running from the main switch to the microswitch. I disconnected it at both ends, and hooked the shifter switch in between. Now the shifter switch controls the microswitch. The switch is about $38. 00 through BD. I have to drill out the mount a little, though, they sent me one for a 5/8 shift lever, instead of the 3/4.

I run a PAC with a shifter switch, although I don't use a toggle also; Nonetheless, you can put the shifter switch in line with the same circuit with the throttle switch. If I remember correctly, the throttle switch simply interupts the ground circuit, right? Just install the shifter switch in the same circuit, that way, the throttle will have to be in the "0" position AND your shifter switch will have to be pulled out to activate the PAC.

Got mine from Piers for around 30 bucks. Call Piers!!! It's made by BD engine brake, by the way.

I have a round lighted rocker switch in my knob where the shift pattern used to be. That is the only control for my brake, and I really like it.

I got creative and turned a shift knob out of mahogany. Then

I cut a hunk and made a piece to hold a switch I got at wally-world in the fishing dept. I have seen the same switch at

Acadamy. I just bought a lighted push-pull at NAPA. I child bride

is about to kill me because the wally-world switch rattles. I can't

hear it, but to keep peace, I will have to build another adapter

to fit the new sw.

I got my BD switch with my Pac from Piers. The switch was around $30. The one they sent didn't fit my shifter, the shaft was too small, so I wrapped a few rounds of black elec'l tape and it then fit. Can't tell there's any tape there at all. Follow the dash switch instructions from your Pac for the wires on the gear shift switch. It is so handy to use from there. I had heard that PacBrake has their own switch now, a rocker switch that is lit up. Seems to me it was more $$ than the BD switch.

NAPA has a push-pull switch for 15 bucks. Piers has two switches for the Pacbrakes. They both retail for 45 bucks. They look nice but I can use the 30 bucks for other stuff. ;)

No, they do not have a bracket and that's what I'm working on trying to find right now. The switch is encased in a leather like insulator that can be moved to hook up the wires. I've got it zip tied to the shifter for a temporary install. If/when I find something I'll post it.

Rick, that looks good and it looks like I got the same switch as you. I ordered a switch with clamp from Pacific Brake and Diesel this morning, cost 20 bucks. I'm going to use the push-pull switch for another project I have in mind.
