I recently had a new clutch installed complete with new throw out bearing at a local shop here in VA and shortly thereafter I started to notice it was a little bit harder to shift into 2nd and 3rd... . there seemed to be more resistance and it was like the shifter was hitting something before it would slide into gear. No grinding ... . If I shifted very slowly it would slide right in smoothly but if I shifted normally it felt like It was hitting something before going in This was the case at every speed.

I mentioned this to the shop that did the work several times and finaly brought it to them to drive

He thinks that there may be something wrong with the throw out bearing

ANY IDEAS before I have him pull the transmission

Air in the master/slave cylinders or the line between the two, perhaps? That would prevent it from completely releasing the clutch, causing it to drag a bit.

How's the fluid level?

mine does something similar, all other shifts are easy and can be done as quickly as you can move the shifter. Only the 2-3 takes a bit of time to 'drop' into gear. I think it's a gate issue only because if I take the right 'line' with the shifter I can shift into third very smoothly. Lemme know what you find out.

Nick

edit: I notice this problem is near non-existant for the first few shifts on a cold morning.

Mine grinds when shifting into 3rd really fast.

otherwise, it is as you guys explain. I havent noticed it being different in the morning, however.
