Normally when I get a new truck after a 2-3 year time frame I put new shocks on because factory ones are normally cheap junk and are pretty much worn out by then. How good are the shocks on this 2022 do you think and when will they be wore out and need changing .

Yes are roads are pretty bad here. In the winter the ruts in the snow at intersections and pothole are very bad. We had 10 ft of snow here this winter

35k on my 2020 and they seem fine.. But our roads down here may be less abusive of course. I try not to change parts unless they are required as I've gotten older

I think the general consensus is shocks and struts around 60-80k miles. Unless otherwise broke/worn out or leaking.

I got about 90k out of the ones on my 2002 2500 when I had it.

Though I've seen some folks go 150k+.

Looked back on the spreadsheet for my old 2002. I changed the shocks at 150230 miles. One of the rear shocks was weak, fronts OK. As far as my experience the two Gen 2s (98.5 and 02) are as tough and long lasting as they get.

My ‘05’s shocks were done by the time I replaced them at 86K, so I don’t plan to wait that long. The 2018’s were still working like new when I traded it in with 53K on them.

Sounds funny to discuss things that happened twenty years ago with parts designed 30 years ago.

They are gone when they are gone, my wild guess would be that it is a total waste to replace them at 20k or any time where there is still MaxCare on the Vehicle.

I had assumed shocks were a wear item, but they are listed as specifically covered by Max Care.

That being said, I’m not sure OEM shocks would be worth my $200 deductible as they are likely to not all 4 fail at the same time.

My 11 and my dad's 12 shocks were shot in no time, made in Brazil I think. Replaced with Bilstien's and really liked them. So when I bought my 15 I assumed the shocks were junk is I changed fronts to Bil's and rears were not available. Honestly I am not sure how much better the Bil's were as the OE's are US Made and I couldn't tell much difference. Probably did not need to change the fronts.

I always had a slight vibration at my feet at freeway speeds. With the 5er attached it was smooth as glass. After my regular warranty was done and on my MaxCare $0 deductible I talked to the tech and he said the rear shocks could be bad. Sure enough he replaced the rears (my truck has rear air) and the vibration went away. He said there was a "small" amount of seepage :D. Those shocks have been on for at least 30k and still work great. I am wondering if the shocks had an upgrade???
