okay question for you shock/suspen guru's I currently have a 6"rcd lift with the 5100 bilstien shocks. I would like to know if I can swap out front shocks with say bigger ones like (carli's) what they use. I dont want to change my coils or anything else just possibley change the shocks to beefier ones. 2. 5 mm or 3. 0 . or in a budget would getting a simple kit for double shocks be okay. I dont beat the crap out of my truck just drive alot of BLM roads in Oregon. and rest is town.

Dieselwrks,
I can't answer your question.

Thank you for your service as a United States Marine! I am a great admirer of the Marine Corps. I admire and respect anyone who proudly wore that uniform.

Yeah, your best bet would be to call Carli and Thuren.

I know the "normal" shocks they sell are designed to work with 3" lift front and 1" rear.

However, Carli is currently working on a long travel setup, with longer shaft shocks that may work for your application.

Also, Don Thuren has done several 5 - 6" lift setups with shocks. I think he typically uses 2. 5" kings for this.

To go with 3" shocks takes some modification, such as openinig up the coil buckets and reinforcing, etc.

thanks

will be calling everyone. so it seems that if I'm able to do a 2. 5 or 3 shock. the set up that some run with the shock mounted off to the side of the coil with the origanal set up I have would be pointless. I know that a good 2. 5 or 3 should be all I need. by the way what is the point of those that have the extra shock mount like this. do they really help off to the side. seems the best would be just one big one and be done with it.
