I wanted to see if anyone has first hand experience how the Bilstein 5150 shocks perform. I rarely carry much weight in my truck except when on extended hunting trips. Woudl I be better off with therse or are the factory shocks good enough. My truck is usually carrying a Leer topper. Iam trying to get it to ride a little smoother on fire/ logging roads.

They work great for me, but I also have the Kore mini packs in the rear also, so that helps a little also. The Kore Chase system would work great for your needs, it does cost some money, but if you are planning on keeping your truck for the long term it would be money well spent. The ride and handling on my truck is day and night from stock.

The Bilstein 5150 shock is amazing in its own way. I included it with the DRC race system because of the 12 inches of travel it offers. It is also a speed sensitive type of shock. It handles the washboard like nothing else. I am still running the 5150 on my truck with the KORE Race system up front. It is a great combo but is a little light weight for the heavy jumping that a FOX shock can handle. On the road is does wonders to small bumps and the "expansion joint" issues we have found to disturb the rear of the truck. Thats when it is used, like Jason says, with the KORE mini pak. I am not sure that the shock has enough rebound dampening to handle the stock leaf pak.
