It seems that my fairly new rancho 5000s dont work well now. I rock my truck and it will cycle three times, up and down, before stopping. Seems excessive and I am wondering if they just are not up to damping a heavy truck like these.

Perhaps either the 9000s cranked up to the higher setting or a different brand would offer better damping. Anyone else experience the same thing with ranchos?

It seems others recommend the bilstien 5100s but when I looked these up they are only spec'd for lifted trucks, mine is a stock 2500

I would never put anything that says Rancho on a truck as heavy as ours, maybe a Toyota but on our trucks a bilstien 5100 is the shock to start with, the a good 2. 0 shock is really what they should have for the weight.

I used the rancho shocks, with the adjustable valve on the rear, on my '87 ram. I installed them in 1995 and hated them till I got rid of the truck. Very poor control on the rebound, harsh ride unless on setting#1, and truck porpoising when towing on level #3 or higher.

My 2003 1500 Dodge had the factory shocks until I traded it in on my 2007 CTD.

After 1 year with the factory shocks on the 2007, I could not stand the harsh ride. After some checking on the forums, I purchased the Bilstein HD yellow / blue shocks. What a big improvement over the small bumps in the road. My trailer tows better also. The larger bumps-holes in the road don't make the rear end kick out as bad. The only thing I would say about the Bilsteins is that a lot of people on the forums had the paint flake off and the shocks start to rust with in the first year of use up north. I used clear engine enamel paint on the Bilsteins before installing on my truck, and they still look like new.

Never had much luck with Rancho 5000s. Even broke a few on an old '76 Ford F-250 company truck we had.
