Shooting of Italian journalist in Iraq

Is it just me or is something fishy with the story we're getting on CNN? Some questions that keep rattling around my brain -



Why didn't the driver stop?



Why wasn't the driver hit by gunfire?



Who was the driver?



Didn't the people in the car realize if they did not stop they would be shot?





Yeah, I know she was a communist, but I don't believe our boys would fire on the car just because of that. They are very well trained as far as when to shoot.

I think our boys have the right to open fire to defend themselves if they feel there's imminent danger. The locals know by now how to behave, or they get the . 50 caliber reminder! :-laf

We will probably never really know what happened.

It's a war zone things happen, mistakes will be made, sometimes with tragic consequences, be it a mistake of the guy driving the car or the guy guarding the gate.

The media focus' more on any mistake made by US troops or percieved mistakes and trying to make Bush look bad than the war itself and the US troops giving thier lives so we can live in freedom, makes me sick.

Yeah, we have lost to many lives to these suiside bommers. To are troops its a life or death decision if someone is charging up on them they can,t take a chance. The media loves jumping at the chance to dig dirt on are own troops . Its like police officers now days some one tries to run an officer over so he draws his gun and deffends him self . Not for nothing, but why does the media INSIST on calling these maniacs Suicide Bombers? Are they really committing suicide? I don't think so.



Fox TV calls them for what they are. HOMICIDE bombers. The only reason they do what they do is to KILL others.



But of course, the main stream media calls them suicide bombers because it is kinder, gentler and more in line with the liberal agenda. Killing the evil Americans who want to impose our way of life on them You know, freedom and all that.....

This story does sound fishy, and almost makes we wonder if the driver intentionally did not stop in order to puposely draw fire from US troops? Then use it as an opportunity to bash the US? The reporter had plenty to say about the situation and made a big deal about our policy to not negotiate with terrorists and how inhumane we are because of that and all the other captives that were killed recently and so forth.



What we should be most concerned about is whether or not ransom money was actually paid to earn her release.

Some of those jurnalist don,t seem to relize there in a WAR ZONE and on top of that there in the middle east . Just out of curiosity, why should I care about ransom money? I don't think the US paid, probably the Italians?

I like your theory about the opportunity to bash the US. If I remember, she is a very vocal critic of the war. How better to embarrass the US than a set up like this.

I've heard some talk that they don't even think she was actually kidnapped. How was she released? Why didn't the Italians let the U. S. know what was going on? How many Italians went in to rescue her? Why didn't they stop at the check points when they've had to go through them to rescue her?Some of the questions that have come up.



Some people have even speculated that it was a faked kidnapping, and was done to embarrass the U. S. in Iraq.
