Hey all,
Having a strange vibration in my rig. I don't feel it in the steering wheel, just the cab. I'm wondering if it might be a u-joint up front or maybe a lost wheel weight, seems consistent regardless of speed, eases when I let up on it abit but never goes away. speed range is from 50-70. I plan to crawl under it in the morning just babied it from the Idaho border to Missoula. So Ifigure to look at it and maybe take it to Rocky mtn or US Diesel

If the vibration is consistant with how much load your putting on the drivetrain I would look at the rear driveshaft. You almost have to disconnect it to feel for a worn joint unless its totally trashed. Fully articulate each universal, they should be smooth with little resistance. Also look at your center carrier bearing if youve got a 2 piece driveshaft, they will also cause a vibration when they go.

Hey guys,
Stopped by Gomer's US Diesel in Missoula, good bunch, sharp, and reasonable.
Diagnosis- drive shaft out of balance, and a bad tire. Got the driveline balanced, and stopped up at Whalen's tire and picked up a couple used tires for the balance of the trip till I can pit the new Michelin LTX s on there. So the vibration is solved. Next week dropping it off for some more work at CN Diesel in Post Falls.
Thanks for the input, catch ya all later.
Steve

No bad u joints? Did you have your driveshaft removed for some reason and possibly installed it 180* out, or did the weights just come off it?

I think a weight came off and I had a tire casing separate as well. Current drama would be the clutch slave cylinder I think.
