I had a miss at a idel and was better running down the road. I made a appointment, he called later, #5 injector was bad. OK fix it. I called him on the way home to find out if the tip looked normal. He said Oh by the way your engine oil was at the add mark so we added 2 quarts. OMG your kidding??? I use Amsoil, you just contamitaned my oil (with Rotella T) I use 3000 series 5w-30.

I called teck support and was told its would be best to change it asap. since I have another 11000 miles to go.

I watch my oil level and it was just above the add mark, rarely get the tack over 2K and was going to top her off after injector was fixed.

Why he did not call me first I will never know. So now I add extra oil change cost to the injector bill, just dont seem right.

I am mad... .

Sorry just had to vent, I'll get off my soap box now.

I wouldn't worry about the addition of Rotella to your Amsoil, as they claim their oils are compatible with conventional lubricants. Perhaps you could change it a little ahead of schedule.

I use the same oil in my '03 and have never had to add make up oil, even after 8-9 thousand miles, when I change the filter and add a quart to make up for the filter volume.

I seriously doubt adding the Rotella will hinder you from going the mileage you normally do. Either way, that does suck that the dealer did that to you.

I don't know much about Amsoil, but any synthetic you can't top off with regular oil would be a waste of money in my book. I have a feeling your overreacting. I have mixed synthetic and regular oil many times with no ill effects. In fact, they sell it that way.

It was not very bright for the shop to not call you to ask what oil you were running, and get your OK, and I'd certainly make that understood, BUT, if it were mine, I'd just motor on down the road. I really don't see it as a problem.

He did offer to pay for the oil and filter, since I am too nice I told him 1/2 would be fine. Since I am about half way to a service.

Should get changed this weekend as long as the stuff gets here on time.

I would rather be safe than sorry. Peace of mind is worth a lot some times.

Wish I was was near ya. I would drain the oil in a new container and run it those other 11,000 miles.

X2 on that. When I first got my old Mercedes, which was suffering from deferred maintenance, I would save the 30 quarts of relatively clean oil that I would drain once a year from the DT466 in the flatbed I had. That was good for 3-4 oil changes in the Mercedes, purging all the nasties that the original owner's lack of PM had left behind.
