My crew cab has a 6 1/2' foot bed. The '92 Diesel fuel tank hits the bottom fo the cab. I'm running the opriginal (1984) tank, but I"d like to be able to hook up the corect Diesel fuel sending unit. I was told I need a gas tank out of a '92 shortbed with fuel injection.

Does anybody know if this works? Is anybody else running a short bed, and how did you solve this problem? Anybody know were to get a good deal on a tank?

Don - that blue 81 crewcab I have still has the tank in it - it's yours of you want it. Problem will be getting it to you as I don't think you can ship it. I don't know what you'd have to do to convert it to diesel for the '92 - haven't had to do that yet so I don't know anything about it ;)

That '81 tank is probably just like one I am using from the '84 body. It fits, of course, but the Diesel sending unit doesn't, and my gag gage in the dash doesn't work. The trip meter works, but I will need a working gage when I go to a dual-tank veggie oil system.

If you don't get rid of that tank, maybe I'll trade you a long bed tank for it?

Can you patch these plastic tanks. The long bed tank will fit if I cut a small protrusion off the top. What would be the best way to seal that hole back up?

I have a 78 club cab that has dual tanks. The rear tank had a split on the top about 4"long. I used a product called Seal-All about 2 years ago and it still seems to be holding. It comes in a red and yellow tube in the automotive section at Wally World.

Don this is about the same as Sam but I have a longbed tank from a 87 D100, reg cab longbed, I better check I'm pretty sure its from a longbed. Aren't the longbed tanks 30gal vs. the short bed 20gal tank? If you wanted to toy with it, its yours. I probly will be in St. Louis middle of April, maybe the 16th.

I've got two long bed tanks here to play with. I probably don't need another. Thanks though!

The crewcab (shortbed) tank is near 30 gallons it just isn't quite as tall where it goes under the rear of the cab.

April 16 we will be wheeling at the off-road park in Fulton, MO. Swing by if you can. Photos are posted at www.imageevent.com/shaggy/potawatomi

I thought so, I used to frequent that forum when I had my 71 W200. I know, not a REAL Power Wagon but I was there just the same. I think I started reading it when it was on forum #36, quite a while ago.
