Hi all,

My name is Ryan and I live in Spanaway Washington. Have been addicted to the Mopar way of life sense back in the Direct Connection days.

Been dealing on a 1992 CTD for the better part of two weeks. Lil lady and myself brought it home yesterday.

Its a D250 regular cab, long box, two wheel drive, LE package with 114000 miles on the clock. Traded off my 1982 Ramcharger (ex forest service rig and had seen better days) and $5,000. 00. The truck is not without sin, the box has been hit fairly hard and half a#$ repaired. But thats okay. I have a 1-ton dually box off a 93 to bolt into its place.

I am a truck driver by trade, but have spent my fair share of time with wrenches in hand. Spent two years managing a transmission shop and doing all the rearend work for same shop. Having been an owner operator (truck driver) for almost 15 years I know a little bit about diesel engines. The last cummins I owned was a NTC 400 BCIII, 435hp @ rear wheels.

Anyway just wanted to say hi. I am really enjoying all the posts and information here at TDR. Looking forward to doing some upgrades after the holidays.

Welcome to the ranch

First thing you need to buy is a can of bug spray and a fly swatter. These items will come in handy when the pesky little bug tries to bite you. Another thing that helps is record a tape that says " I will leave it stock it has plenty of power. " Say it over and over again. Then when you go to sleep press play and listen to it while you sleep. Also it is wise to give all of your credit cards to the little lady for safe keeping. Blaa Blaa Blaa. No matter what you try it doesnt work. So lets get you started on the right foot.

First and for most you need to get gauges to see whats going on with the motor. You want to get a baseline on whats going on before you start to turn it up. I would get a tach, boost, and pyro. Then you can start to play with the pump. After that you will want an intake/exhaust/injectors/bigger turbo/twins/etc. /etc.

There is a lot of good info on this site and the first gen crowd is the best. Again welcome to the funny farm. If you have any questions let us know.

Stomp,

Yes first on the list is a tach, pyro & boost guage. Been looking at the EV Isspro guages. They look nice to me. Going to wait till after the holidays. Lets see, truck stuff in the winter, harley stuff in the summer. I think I can make that work. #ad

Welcome aboard. I know of those Direct Connection days. Had a 68 fastback Barracuda, worked 340 with w2 head Satellite and still have the roadrunner. You have hinted your age :)

Dave

Glad to have you aboard - welcome to the funny farm. And what Stomp said about the subliminal tape and the credit cards... no truer words have been seen on this website...

See you 'round the highways -

Hmmm, I've seen some of those direct connections, they usually come out of guys tool box that is usually 10 years older or more then I. :-laf

Welcome to the club, maybe you can help me out a little with the 440 in my 75 dodge truck. Just got done spending the weekend playing with it in the timber! Of course my diesel got to play too, pulling the trailer. :D

Like stomp, and sam said, its a slippery slope, and it goes down hill fast after you go off the edge, heck you just as well jump in and join us on the downhill. :-laf

Thanks guys!

My fist Dogde truck was a 76 1/2 ton short box Power Wagon. Really really missed that truck (until the CTD). From that I went to a 99 Dakota R/T. Fun little truck to drive, but the R/T was far from a usable truck. Sold the R/T about 6 months ago. Drove my dads old Ramcharger until yesterday when I traded it off on the CTD. Prior to my trucks I owned several A & B bodies.

The owner of the shop I used to work for lives for the Pentastar as does his father. Learned an awfull lot working for him. Still great friends & biker brothers.

Hope to be able to contribute to the site whenever I can. I do work 50 to 60 hours every week. Makes it hard to balance out my time, but I make an effort to get online early in the AM and sometime before bed.
