The past couple of weeks, I've had two instances of no power.

What happens is that I will go from zero throttle to partial/full throttle - and I don't accelerate. It has enough power to keep itself going, but no more. One time happened after heading downhill, the other time happened right after I started it up. Both times, after hitting the throttle a couple of times, I put it in neutral, turn off the ignition, restart, and it's fine.

My first thought is lift pump, but considering that cycling power resets it - I'm thinking maybe not. Ideas?

Been there, am doing that! I've got the same codes. 216 is the code for failing injection pump. So I'm replacing the Injection pump this weekend as I already have a new LP. If you haven't replaced the LP it might be a good time to do it. As you may have read already, Low fuel pressure from LP can cause the IP to fail. You don't want an old LP to to cause damage to your new IP. Others will chime in hopefully confirm what I think i know.

Just went through the hassle of trying to get it done under warranty, but dealers didn't like the fuel system mods or the Banks set up.

I'm trying to convince myself that doing it myself will be good experience. :)

Mmmm... hard to say. I suspect your loss of power will occur more and more often... till it just quits. My issue started as I was towing a heavy load on long hard hills where it cut out two or three times. I put another 150-200 miles on since with light loads on flat terrain without much issue. I'm on a long trip with the truck next week and don't want any chance of leaving me stranded where I didn't want to be and forced to pay for things I'd rather not pay for. ie towing, motels, sucker shop rates, and loss of good vacation fun waiting on parts and installation. If your just running around town close to home, maybe not a big concern for you. you might be able to baby it along for quite awhile.

I've got 92,000 miles on my 01 and I'm on the second IP and LP and now off warranty. My truck started acting the same way about three weeks ago with plenty of fuel pressure from the LP. I have the same trouble code and I've put about 700 miles on it since it started acting up and it's getting worse very fast. I also have a vacation planned right after the 4th. I'm looking for a place to get a good deal on an injection pump because I won't leave without the repairs. I also want to increase fuel flow to the IP. Anybody want to recommend upgrades to the IP or LP delivery system?

Thought somebody else my chime in on your query... I've used the Vulcan kit which relocates the LP to the Frame to create a pusher pump which prolongs the life of the LP by reducing heat and engine vibration, and uses 1/2 inch line to supply the IP. Geno's sells a variation on the Vulcan kit with slightly smaller line I believe.

There is also the the FASS or FAST systems out there that I'm not as familiar with, only that they're expensive. I believe they have higher pressure and flow rates. The TDR has a lot of info about all this stuff.

In regard to IP, my limited search revealed a HRVP44 (Hot Rod?) They seem to cause a little rough idle or something but was ok outside of that. Youll have to do some research on that one. There's probably some other options available.

Hope that helps some, good luck.
