Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I was finishing a clutch install on this 93 4x4 and had just installed the skid plate and all of a sudden smoke started under the truck and from under the hood.
I mean smoke! I didn't know what in the heck was going on, so I let the lift down and disconnected the neg. cable from battery.
after it cooled and the smoke cleared I figured out what happened. some one had put a wire from the pos.post to the trailer plug without a fuse.
and that wire somehow got under the skid plate bolt and I tightened it on the wire.
it burnt the hood release cable and ruined it. I'll post a pic. if I can
