I don't know how many of you listen to shortwave radio, but this Afghanistan war has kept me interested. A friend set me the following frequencies and times to listen. It is interesting.

Times are UT. Subtract 4 hours for EDT, 5 for EST and CDT, 6 for MDT,

7 for MST and PDT. Frequencies in kHz. Additional Islamic countries

outside the Mideast are included. Latest info as of October 11, 2001.

AFGHANISTAN --- Voice of Shariah (Taliban station)

1530-1545 7087 (varies 7083 to 7092) [for propagational reasons this

is extremely difficult to hear, but is your only chance. Theoretically,

best possibility is on west coast, improving with approach of solstice

and greatest darkness on path. ] However, this frequency was knocked

off the air at 1610 UT October 8 and not heard since. Also check our
