Delivered some production equipment today way out in the boonies. On the way to location I had to go thru 7-8 low water crossing. On the way out the a/c quit working at idle. well the water pushed the viscous clutch wiring into the fan and cut it in half. Dealer wanted some $400 to replace but we pulled the fan and spliced the wires and then zip tied the wires to the radiator.

So beware. If you have and 06 and drive thru some high water, the same could happen to you.

Stupid, stupid engineers. Very poor design.

This is the 2nd post i read in the last few weeks about 2006 wiring getting chewed by the fan. I was under the hood last week and cant figure what harness is getting bit?

Isnt the fan clutch still mechanical?

Mine fan is always on with the a/c now i think about it?

Look for the wiring to the fan clutch from below. It's protected by a metal guard. The computer now controls the fan clutch. Mine was replaced last week.

Just installed fan clutch #4 on my pos... err... . I mean fine running piece of machinery last week!! #@$%!

O I had no idea it was lectric. What happens when they fail? Does the fan stay locked on or off?

Hope it defaults to on so the truck will keep going and not overheat.

Mine stop spinning and do not move at all!! Another finely engineered piece by D/C!
