Greetings all. I recently sold my truck to a fellow member and I now have to replace it with a comparable one. My objective was to get a 6spd so I sold the automatic.

I have identified an 05 that is fully loaded. The MSRP is $46205. My question is wether or not to buy this truck with the NV5600 or wait a while until the bugs are worked out of the G56. Will the wait be worth it? Is the new manual better than old 6spd or is the old one more reliable?

Thanks in Advance

As you probably know the G56 is on hold. The New Venture 5600 is a great transmission. I have 16k miles on mine. It shifts smooth and easy. I just changed the oil in it. The old came out pretty clean.

As stated the NV5600 is a proven transmission. If it's not broke then it's time to fix it.

My concerns about waiting would be the next round of EPA EGR regs due to hit in 2007. Add this to the 04. 5 EPA funky tweaks and consider... ...

That, and needing a DRW, was what prompted me to jump on a pre-EGR 04 305/555 with all the goodies sans funk, see last issue of TDR #47 (i think).

If you can find the truck you want with an NV5600, you will have a great truck with a great transmission. If you cannot find one, and can afford to wait till the G56 issue is resolved, I think you will still have a great truck. I still believe that the G56 will turn out to be a good product. The worst case would be for you to buy a truck you don't want because you couldn't wait. If you need the truck right now, then you'd better start looking for an NV5600.

Jump on it quick, if you still can!!

I'd buy it in a new york minute. I think as the pages of history are being written the 05's with a NVG 5600 are going to go down as a real keeper.

No EGR, pusher style fuel pump,5600,325/610 out of the box and so on.

Mac
