Overdrive unit.

2wd to 4wd?

It's an 82 1 ton chevy camper special 4x4, so it has dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, sm465 transmission, and a np205 tcase. Engine and body are scrap iron the guy said.

The guy wants 850 for it so it's a pretty good deal. Normally I'd buy it, but I've got so much other crap laying around right now. Two blazers of which I need to make one out of and sell it.

I want it for the axles. Sometime in the future I want to build a crew cab chevy with a cummins in it.

What do ya'll think? Buy it, or pass it up?

Front 60's

These are getting harder and harder to find. I think you could get $700 for just the axle here. I am in a similar boat right now, lots of good parts but not one good vehicle till some of them are combined.

I think this is an afliction that truckaholics get from too much diesel smoke inhalation. Sounds all to familiar.

Parts trucks? Money makers if you don't get attached to them. I HAVE noticed that they are sitting everywhere. Like in my yard.

I've drug home parts trucks before. They hog up space and sometimes you get somthing you need but they always hog up space and are hard to get any money for. I won't sell the axles out from under parts trucks because then they are almost imposible to move around. I would say try and get it cheaper because you don't "need" it right now and who is going to give him $800 for it - or better yet skip it and fix the stuff you have! I'm one to talk:rolleyes:

A deal indeed

Here are my thoughts on this...

You better buy it. I sold an identical 83 to a fellow in Tennessee who cuts them down to make a jeep body fit. Pays $3000 for them just to cut them down.

Those Dana 60s are really hard to find. The mud racers want them badly. Last one I had went for a $1000, and I had a waiting list a mile long for the next one I got.
